# AgentReader Terms of Use

*Last updated: 19 October 2026*

These terms cover your use of AgentReader at agentreader.xyz: the REST API, the remote MCP server, web search and the website (together, "the Service"). The Service is operated by AgentReader ("we", "us"), contact@agentreader.xyz. By using the Service you accept these terms. If you use it for an organisation, you confirm you may accept them on its behalf.

## 1. What the Service does

When you ask it to, AgentReader fetches a publicly accessible web page or PDF and returns its content as Markdown or JSON. It also runs web searches through our own search instance. You decide what gets fetched or searched.

We do not bypass bot protection, logins or paywalls. If a site blocks automated access, we respect that, and the read fails.

## 2. Free use and payment

- **Free tier:** 5 anonymous reads per day per IP address. We may change this limit.
- **Paid use:** you can pay per call in USDC on Base via x402 (currently $0.005 per call), buy prepaid credit bundles on an API key, or buy a card pack (currently $10) through Thirdweb. Thirdweb's card processor handles your card details and identity checks. We never see your card details.
- **Failed or blocked reads are not charged.**
- **Credits** are tied to your API key. They are non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund or we shut the Service down (see section 5). Keep your key secret, because anyone who has it can spend your credits.
- **On-chain payments** are final and publicly visible.
- **Prices** may change. We'll announce changes on the site at least 14 days in advance. Credits you already bought keep their value in calls.

## 3. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to:

- fetch, store or spread illegal content, or for any illegal purpose;
- violate a website's terms of service, or infringe copyright or other rights;
- get around bot protection, paywalls, logins or rate limits;
- abuse the free tier, for example by rotating IP addresses to avoid the daily limit;
- reach internal, private or reserved addresses (localhost, private IP ranges, cloud metadata endpoints), or probe or attack any system;
- overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service.

## 4. Your responsibility for content

You choose what to fetch and what to do with the result. You are responsible for having the rights to use that content and for respecting the source site's terms and copyright. We don't own the content you fetch, and we don't check whether you may use it.

Fetched pages can contain wrong or manipulative text, including instructions aimed at AI agents. Treat the output as untrusted input.

## 5. Suspension and changes

We may limit or suspend access, or disable an API key, if we reasonably believe you're breaking these terms, putting the Service or others at risk, or if the law requires it. We may change, pause or stop the Service or any part of it. If we shut it down permanently, we'll give reasonable notice and refund unused prepaid credits.

## 6. No warranty

The Service is provided **"as is" and "as available"**. We don't guarantee that it will be available without interruption, that it can read any particular page, or that its output is complete or accurate.

## 7. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for all claims is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, which is zero if you used only the free tier. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, or your mandatory consumer rights.

## 8. Privacy

See our [Privacy Statement](/privacy).

## 9. Changes to these terms

We'll post updates here with a new date, and give advance notice on the site for material changes. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.

## 10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Mandatory consumer law of the country where you live still applies.
